Thank you, yeah those two are not my “go-too” devices, but they work and can be bought at a reasonable rate.

Hang on to your wig there. Hehehe…I just watched and you did a real good job for the first time. It was very informative in regards to inexpensive test equipment and method of testing.
The video part needs a little work but it was acceptable for me.

If Eric has no issues I’d love to make more. None of my children are the least bit interested in auto repair and it bums me out that I have no one to “teach or show” what I am doing.
Here is another one I did on the same vehicle showing how to replace a C/V axle and seal. The camcorder was my Motorola phone, not to bad but the auto-focus lags to much for my taste. I am hoping to upgrade real soon, we have a Durango that the owner has decide to give me because the repairs are gong to cost her too much and they now live in Texas as that is where her husband got set (military) so I am hoping to sell it for parts and use some of the money on a new HD camcorder.

I’ve watched your videos and , wow, for being your first two videos they are pretty good, informative and not boring.
My compliments! 😉I’d also like to do some videos , but for the moment I content myself with pictures taken with my smartphone; I’m already sloooooooooowww in my repairs as it is, and my garage is really too small even to put down a tripod ( I have problems even walking around one side of the car, the other side is face to face with the wall :side: )
If some day I get a bigger garage and better lighting (and some more speed in my repairs 😆 ) I’ll attempt some videos like yours.

O scopes! This brings back memories. I used to check signal the exact same way on satellite systems in the army. In a digital signal, the highs are 1’s (on) and the lows are 0’s (off) in binary that the computer interprets. My inner nerd had to get that out 🙂 As an avid DIYer, it would still be a bit of overkill to have one in the house, unless I can get one for <$100. Great vid!

I got mine on ebay in an auction for 98 euros. It's an old analog Hitachi 100Mhz dual channel scope, and it's a bit battered and very very bulky, but does the job nicely. I used it to make a coil adaptor circuit for a dash I purchased for my Citroen AX, which has a wasted spark ignition , but the dash was for a conventional coil model. It helped me to understand the kind of square wave signal my ECU was outputting and make a small adaptor circuit to drive my older tachometer. It was very fun! :cheer: These newer pocked scopes (as shown in the video) are just wonderful! Small, light, auto-triggering, data-saving capability, decent bandwidth, cheap as hell, what do you want more? 😆 It's great to share my nerd-insights 😆 with some akin soul out here 🙂 Live long and prosper (and stay dirty!) 10nico
