I just bought another Grand Cherokee, this ones a 2000 4.0 RWD w/ 271k. The CEL comes on immediately with the ignition on upon clearing codes with scanner or disconnecting the battery. The instrument cluster reports P1491 when the car runs its self check, but my scan tool reads no codes. P1491 appears to be related to the Fan Relay Module for this vehicle, but the fan behavior seems normal at operating temp or with the A/C on. I looked at the relay, and it appears to have been messed with in the past. Seems weird, I don’t know if I should open up that bag of worms of a previous repair if everything seems to be working correctly.
