We have a 2007 nissan sentra S 2.0L. It has the clicker with electric door locks dome light dimmer and keyless ignition. I have a weird problem which has happened twice in the last year. My wife went to work yesterday around noon. She calls me about 5pm says battery dead. Ok, no big deal other than i replaced battery last year with a 5 year battery hopefully, so i felt battery should still be good. I get to where she works, sure enough eveything dead voltage is down to 6.6 volts and the car is making a strange ticking noise. Do to the crowded parking lot, it takes a bit to get to where I can jump her car off. I get the car running , it runs fine. Next morning it cranks right up, and I drive the car all day without a problem. Same thing happened about a year ago. However a few months later I did end up replacing the battery. Not sure if related to problem however battery did have some age on it. Now I have noticed once or twice after driving her car at night that the automatic dome light dimmer doesnt work and occasionally her door locks dont work correctly although not at the same time. After some seaching in the manual I found there is module called a BCM (Body control module) which controls these devices. It costs about $500. Any one ever have this kinda problem or have to change out this module. Still hard to believe the dome light could kill the battery in 5 hours. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

Having the same issue with a 2001 Monte Carlo…
Once or twice a year the car will be stone dead for no reason….
Went to the dealer and had the BCM replaced because it is known to cause issues.
About 7 months later it happened again..
But something I saw makes me think it has something to do with the security system.
One evening I noticed the PRNDL was illuminated when the car was parked.
Had my brother go out and start the car and let it run for a minute then shut it of and lock it.
        The PRNDL stayed off.
My thinking is the security system is some how causing the car to stay “awake”.
Problem is, it happens so infrequently it is hard to trouble shoot.
99.99% of the time the car reacts normally.
There also may be another cause..
I do not know if your car is equipped with RAP (retained accessory power) relay.
The BCM (body control module) should shutdown the RAP relay about 10 minutes after turning the ignition off and if the RAP relay does not shutdown then excessive parasitic draw on the battery will drain the battery.
Something to look into if so equipped.

Thanks I will check it out. I thought that the Rap relay was built into the BCM.

            That is maker specific…
