So I’m looking into my dad’s 95 Nissan Pathfinder. His power window on the front driver side is acting up. It goes down without a problem but won’t go up. The motor is making noise going up so I wouldn’t think a switch? I took out the window and the thing is going up and down the track fine without the weight of the glass(you can tell there’s not as much power when going up though). I think when the window was up it would slowly sink if it wasn’t wedged in. I didn’t take out the assembly but from what I can see the cable and pullys

        Welcome to the forums!

I would be checking the window regulator linkage for binding, checking the weather stripping as well as doing a voltage drop test on the feed and ground side of the window motor to rule out any excessive resistance.

Here are some video’s by Eric that may help all on power windows –

The regulator looks fine. Nothing is sticking and the cable isn’t bent or jumbled up. The weather stripping is fine, too. Also, at the connector from the switch to the motor I’m getting ground and 11.9v with the button both up and down. If I’m getting the same amount of voltage with the button up and down, it wouldn’t be a switch, right?

Thank you guys for the advice. I replaced the motor this morning and it works fine. That Pathfinder had to be the most repair friendly vehicle I’ve ever seen. Everything is really easy to fix.

I was going to say based on your description it sounds like a motor but the knowledgeable people here at the forum beat me to it. Thanks for using the forum and for posting your fix it will go on to help others that use the site.

if the window regulator is not damaged or worn and theres 12v
up and down then the motor would be suspect. and should
be replaced.I recommend the use of an OE nissan window
                motor.
