PT cruiser serpentine belt replacement–won’t go on

I’m lost-Put on new tensioner. Trying to put on belt but I can’t get even close to getting it on. Tensioner only moves 1/2″ and really doesn’t appear to do much. The picture shows how much belt I have left to get on. Belt is same size as the old on and I have the same issue as with the new belt.

Maybe your belt tensioner is no longer work correctly. Recommending a new Belt tensioner.

Did you remove the spring retaining pin?

Talk about feelin stupid. Looked at the pic prolly a dozen times before I realized it was backwards. Still wasn’t easy to get on but I got it. Yep. sometimes I read a ruler backwards too. Thanks all for the replies.
