Setting up Automotive Club

Hello All,

I live in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on a compound. We are in the process of setting up an automotive club, and will be have around $8,000 US to purchase tools. I am looking for suggestions of tools to get, with the assumption that most guys will have a basic set of sockets, ratchets, wrenches etc. I am pushing to use the money to get more odd ball tools, the stuff you wouldn’t buy for yourself but rent if you ever needed it. For example:

Slide Hammer,
Table top hydraulic press,
Bearing puller,
OBD II reader,
Inner Tie Rod tool,
Jack Stands,
Hydraulic Jacks,
Engine hoist,
Specialty sockets,
Oxy acetylene torch,
Compressor and air tools,
Etc.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

You should get the following:

1. Air compressor (minimum 60 gallon tank)
2. Air hose with fittings
3. Oil water separator for the compressor
4. Impact tools (1/4″, 3/8″, 1/2″, 3/4″ impact guns and/or ratchets)
5. Bench grinder with a wire wheel on it
6. Parts washer
7. Oil pans
8. Lots of rags
9. Misc. fluids (brake cleaner, engine degreaser, carb cleaner, wd-40, pb blaster, etc)
10. Spark plug sockets
11. relay jumper testers
12. 12 point triple square bit socket set
13. Don’t forget a lift (minimum 10,000 lb capacity)

There is so much more to list, but realistically, $8,000 USD is not going to cover everything I listed, let alone ther is more stuff that I didn’t even get to list. If you’re starting a car club, I’m guessing you will be doing custom stuff like lights, accessories, engine modifications, etc… There are a lot of specialty tools for this type of stuff. You need to do a little research on what exactly you will need. You’re looking at around $30,000-$50,000 USD. I don’t know how much tools cost in Saudi Arabia. You might get away with $15,000. There is just so much in the automotive industry to sum it up in one post.

I would throw in a mig welder. Sometimes you have to make your own tools when the money is not there to buy special tools.
