i found this page on how to install the unit ok easer than i thought but theres some things i want to know that this page DOES NOT say which is how to wire the CD Changer Port up and what the colours of the cars stereo wireing harness is compared to the stereos harness. it also does not explaain how the dash kits works its in 3 pieces and does not explain which piece goes where and when.
January 9, 2013 at 10:38 pm #490088here is what i recommend. take your new deck, the install kit, and everything else you have for this, take it to a local stereo shop and ask them to put it in for you.
you need tools to do this kind of stuff and often will have to contort yourself around inside and outside the car in the snow and rain and gravel.
your install guide for the deck wont have vehicle specific wiring diagrams. your owners manual wont either. you need a FSM or a online wiring guide to determine which is what and where it goes. there may be other add-ons that are required that you dont have.
Please just pay the 100.00 (not including any remotes or wiring boxes needed) estimated that they will charge you to install the deck.

January 9, 2013 at 11:58 pm #490131well looking online i found a wiring diagram but this tells me what the FACTORYs wiring is. This is close but not what i am looking for i am looking for the wiring diagram of the Aftermarket stereo wiring harness (where you wire the stereo harness to the vehicale specific harnedd then plug it into the factory wiring.
January 10, 2013 at 1:48 am #490164I HAVE TALKED TO CRUTCHFEILD SUPPURT AND FOUND OUT ALL I NEED TO KNOW
January 10, 2013 at 3:44 am #490234You haven’t found out all you need to know. I think you’ve found out just enough to do some major damage. By the very fact that you couldn’t figure out the standardized color coding for the deck and the fact you are about to chop up the wiring harness of your car to put it in instead of getting the plug adapter kit speaks to this being the truth. I’ve had to sort out so many electrical nightmares that became very expensive for the car’s owner because either they did exactly what you are about to do or bought the car that way and didn’t ralize what had been done. Cars today don’t run just the stereo wiring through there. There are so many things you wouldn’t even think would have a reason to be there that the wiring passes through for some reason. Start hacking wires and you run the risk of frying body modules, having lots of other circuits acting improperly, I’ve even seen a fire or two because an unqualified person got cheap and did a DIY hack job to it like you are about to.
When you trash your car that has all sorts of very expensive parts that have to be shipped from Hamburg to your dealership to get ahold of, don’t expect one shred of sympathy from any real tech about this, especially the one who will be tallying up your repair bill. Don’t say you weren’t warned. Sad thing is you’re going to be trashing your woman’s car, not your own. In the end she will have to drive your mistake, if this will still be driveable after you’re done. Her trust in your abilities is grossly misplaced and soon to be irrepairably shattered.

OK when did i state i was gonna hack up the factory wiring NO not what i was gonna do at all i was GOING to get a harness adaptor and THAT is what i was asking the diagram on. Crutchfield told me its just a colour match up. Thats just fine. that i can do but ill wire the stereo and install it and have a professional install the speakers im not up to that task.
January 10, 2013 at 4:00 am #490242any time i do a deck swap on a vehicle im not familiar with i do DAYS if not weeks of research to make sure im comfortable enough to do it, and if i have any doubts at all, I DONT DO IT. Thats why i told my sister to have hers done at a shop. I refuse to cheapass any install. the owner either buys what i want to put the deck in or i dont install it.
I *HIGHLY* recommend you not do this yourself. spend the extra money to have it properly done with a warranty, which will save yourself or her a headache later on.

It will probably be Professionally installed. The Fiancee wants to wait and have the stereo and new speakers installed all in one shot. I am just going to wire the stereo harness to the Vehicle harness adaptor and wire the Antenna booster to the stereo’s POW ANT line. I will also wire the speaker to the Vehicle Specific Speaker harness as well that way all wiring is done and she can save money by just paying the labor to have it all installed.
January 15, 2013 at 1:38 am #491739Stereo installs are not that complicated once you figure out what your power and grounds are. As for speaker wire make sure you maintain polarity. Often wires have a black or white strip that matches with the same color of the other wire that goes to a particular speaker. Make sure you match up the striped wires and the solid wires or the speakers will be out of phase. Also be sure to insulate your connections well. Nothing ruins your day like shorting out the electrical system because it some bare wire touched something it shouldn’t have.
