I have a 2000 Honda Accord LX automatic transmission ulev vtec. The speedometer doesn’t work and I tried to replace the input speed sensor on the top of the transmission below the intake hose and still nothing..then I checked the bottom output sensor and it looks fine. I followed Eric’s guide from youtube about the white Honda. My car doesn’t have that kind of sensor. It has Just these two sensors on the transmission. Here is the picture Sensor for automatic transmission and this is is for the manual transmission manual transmission
      manual transmission

so what should I do? should I replace 1998-2002 Honda Accord Cruise brain ( Cruise control module ) it is under near the steering wheel? Any suggestions? I hope there are great people to help.

If you can hook up a scan tool that reads data you should have a speed sensor value while driving. If no speed shows on the scan tool you either have a bad output speed sensor, wiring or PCM. If it shows vehicle speed it could be a bad speedometer.

The rpm line , fuel, temperature gauges works fine and there is no light in the dash. Only the speedometer doesn’t work. So I will wait to see a used accords in the junkyard and get the bottom output sensor for the transmission.

I checked all fuses and they seems to be fine.

Should I replace the cruise control module aka cruise brain?

+1 On what Wysetech said… He gave you a good answer that you appear to have glossed over….

You can parts mechanic this thing or do diagnosis…

This scanner at HF can be had for a little over $60 with an easy to get HF coupon and you will have a good tool for a long time.

              Just my 2 cents…

This is simple for the manual transmission. Remember my car is automatic transmission 🙁

There is no check engine light on and I was at advanced auto parts…and checked to see if there are any codes. Nothing is showing, the transmission shift smooth. So I am guessing the wire is bad?…

OK, I see you don’t get what we are saying.

There is a difference between a code reader and a scanner.

A code reader they use at your local parts store just gives you what the Check Engine light code is on for (and sometimes pending codes)

Not all car problems show up with a Check Engine light Coming on.

A Scanner shows live data (the one I linked does this)… Wysetech was telling you to get live data that that shows up when you use this tool. The speed sensor should be providing information to the ECU. Something may be wrong, or it could be working perfectly… This is the diagnosis… If your Computer is getting the MPH you are doing (when driving this car and looking at the scanner) then you know you have an issue with the Speedometer or wiring somewhere)… This is part of the diagnosis.

                    I hope this helps.

I have testes speedometer as well. I went to a local junkyard and bought two speedometer clusters and it does the same thing. The speedometer doesn’t work and the mileage doesn’t work. So the car is sitting in the garage and I am borrowing my mom’s car until I fix the issues. 🙁

The speed sensor you pictured was for the gears inside the transmission and not for vehicle speed. I suspect you have an issue with the speed sensor on the transmission similar to the Civic video you mentioned. Be sure to look on the back of the transmission toward the firewall.
