Subaru cv joint failure…then what?…

I have a 2001 Forester. My question is, what is the worst that can happen if the cv joint fails before I can replace it? Would I make it home without a tow? How will it affect the awd system?

It’s a very open-ended question because I’m not sure what you mean by failure. Do you mean if the boot rips and it dries out? Or do you mean if the axle comes apart (catastrophic failure). What is preventing you from fixing it?
