      Hi guys, I have a question I hope someone can answer.

        As far as worrying about it I believe the fix is to replace the pistons but don’t quote me on that. Piston slap is the result of the cylinder bore being larger than the piston thus allowing it to ‘slap’ the inside of the cylinder during it’s travel. I can’t say this is a critical failure right out of the box but it will get worse over time I’m sure. I’m sure some will suggest using thicker weight oil but this may cause other problems especially during cold start up. I think the only real fix would be to repair the engine by installing new pistons. Subaru may have a fix posted on this somewhere as it does seem to be a common problem.
