I have a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire we have replaced coil packs, starting module, fuel filter, spark plugs and wires starts fine when cold out but has a hard time when it is warm out but when the car is warm it has no problem starting. When idling after so long and then go to step on it the car dies. It has happened a couple times now. When I start it again it putters dies if I give it gas it works perfectly fine Battery is only s year old it just cranks and cranks and after time it will start. No check engine light is on.

It may be fuel related. Try cycling the key on and off 3-4 times without starting the
car. Then try and start the vehicle. If it fires up the fuel pump would be suspect.

It could be a fuel pump…. put a fuel pressure gauge on it…. also, Get any pending codes pulled. I know you said you had no check engine light, but are you sure the bulb works? I would put a scanner on it, check for codes and watch the live data.

            Cheers
