Lately I’ve been trying to solve a stalling problem on a 1996 Chevrolet 1500 6.5 Litre Turbo Diesel truck and one of the things I’m looking to test is the fuel pressure. This may be a stupid question to most people but what tester do you use to test fuel pressure on diesels? I have a Multi Port Fuel Injection kit, the gauge runs up to 150 PSI but doesn’t fuel pressure run higher in diesels in the engine compartment (like in the thousands)?

What tool is available to measure fuel pressure on diesels?

If the topic is too ridiculous I’ll take it down I don’t care. Maybe I’m just not thinking outside the box with this one.

For testing pressure from the lift pump a regular gauge that fits should work. Lift pump pressure is only 4 psi on that engine, it is mounted to the left frame rail. You don’t get into the high pressure until the fuel leaves the injection pump. And to be honest it takes specialized equipment to deal with the injection pump. The high pressure lines are normally 1,700 psi for a turbo.
