I noticed today they i have a hole in my EGR hose (I assume its EGR as it smelled like gas) i for the time being was going to tape it up and get a new hose but hte tape didnt work putting it back on and the throttle cleaner i ran thru the hose to clean it out pretty much decinigrated the hose. Problem is no auto part store has a EGR hose for a Daewoo or Aveo. What is the Diameter of a EGR hose? what kind of hose should i ask for?

Vacuum line is usually what goes to the egr. Take a piece of
the line with you and see if the auto store can help match it.

its a short piece of hose that comes off the side of the engine and connects to a Pipe its about 7 inces in length without the bend. the EGR valve is just behind where this hose connects to the engine it looks like the tube connecting to the engine connects to something on the valve cover. I know PCV hose i had a problem with it the same diameter of a Heater hose maybe even a garden hose. This hose, atleast in appearence, look to be he same thickness of the lower rad hose (which the lower rad hose connects to a plastic tube which appears to be the same thickness of the metal pipe that this hose connect the engine too. It smells like gas if its not a EGR hose than what would it be? Also note the hose ad black soot in it im not sure if this is oil carbon or just deteriorated rubber

CAR SEEMS fixed for now. From what i understand it the ripped hose is actually the PCV whereas the hose i thought was the PCV was actually the valve vent hose. as for the plugs i pulled them all cleaned off all the oil and regapped them and put them back in the hose i just put it on backwards from how it was and reclamped it hose is really weak but should work through winter. after i put the plugs back in and cranked it all the oil in the plug holes the thing bellowed white smoke or the exhaust for a good 2 minutes

If its the pcv line. You can use heater hose of the same diameter.

its bigger than a heater hose its about the same diameter as the coolant hose on the bottom of my surge tank

the PCV smelled of gas not oil and im talking oil on the cylinders not in the hose

I replaced the hose i had one on my washing machine drain hose that was the perfect fit. not sure the size but i do know the diameter fits inside of a 1/4 inch drain pipe, I also cut the length of the hose the shop installed. I wll take pictures later and post them up maybe it will help clear up what i am talking about

Ok here are the pictures the 1st shows the old hose the rest show the new hose along with the hose the shop installed.

old hose as you can tell pretty much nothing left of it

New hose just a hose i had around the house a bit on the long side but otherwise a perfect fit. outter Diameter fits inside of a 1/4″ Drain pipe

Shows the refitted hose the shop installed before it had a kink i cut around 1 inch of hose off and this is the outcome

                          top view of replaced hose.

anyone who knows which of these hoses are the PCV and what the other hose is for please let me know

Don’t expect that hose to last very long. You need hose that will be impervious to oil/gasoline vapours. There is also the danger of fire. :silly:

a hose is a hose lol seems to fit fine and seems more durable than the hose that was on there
