Window won’t go down on its own

My window will not go down on its own. I can hear the window regulator moving down and if I manually push the window down to where the regulator is it will shut the window all the way just won’t make it go down. It’s a 2003 grand am. I know I’ll have to remove the door paneling was just wondering if sounds like a window regulator issue or maybe something simpler?

It sounds like an issue with the window regulator motor assembly. I think the above video should help you sort it out. Know that GM likes to use rivets when doing this type of thing. It’s not always helpful as you have to drill them out to remove parts. I normally replace these with a bolt and nut to avoid having to deal with that in the future.

The plastic Window Regulator Sash Connectors snapped in half causing my issue. My plan is to clean the plastic piece on the window and regulator and try some gorilla super glue. If that doesn’t work I’ll replace the sash connectors.

They actually make a special adhesive for that. What I would recommend is taking your removed window and also the clips to a local body shop to have them apply this adhesive to the window to install the mounts. If not, you may not be successful with the glue you’re looking to try.

I just thought of another possible solution. Try liquid nails.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMxPyLat06Y I found this video that shows exactly how to mount the plastic connectors. In the video he’s using a heat gun to soften the adhesive. If possible I’d prefer not to buy a heat guy for a one time use. (I will if needed)
Do you think a hair dryer would work to soften the adhesive just enough? I measured my dryer with a digital thermometer gets to 230 max. Thermal limiting switch drops it down to 200 it fluctuates back and forth when the nozzle is about 1 inch from the surface.
