well the next step would be to get that code read. chance is that either one of the pressure sensors is bad or a wiring problem and that thing has about 10 sensors on there so get that trans code read and let us know? with it coming and going i would say most likely a wiring problem.

i can tell you the labor would be about $800.00 here in Cullman AL. plus parts and machine work most of the time on heads it runs around 1300 but giving they put new cams and new timing set it could run that 2200.00 it does sound a little hi ( $600 ) but it is all in what kind of parts was bought. and there labor rate and if they do all the or sub heads to a machine shop but ( they should have bin ABEL TO GIVE YOU A CLOSE ESTIMATE 0 UP FRONT)

with what you have already done. i think i would be looking at that water pump i have had this sort of thing happen with the 5.3 water pumps a lot. take that belt back off and check for play just grab the fan blades and see if there is any play buy moving the front and rear. lets us no if you find anything maybe this will help.

the best way to judge this retro fit is buy temp hook up your high and low side at 80% the low should be on 40-50 and the high on 175-210 with it running and the a/c on

i have a lot of time on this engine and if the light comes on hot at ideal most likely you have bad rod bearings and maybe even bad cam bearings you will most likely need to change the engine or rebuild the bottom end on this one.
