I’m not a Certified mechanic, and don’t take responsibility for any actions taken from this message. It could be that you need to Clean the injectors, the codes it pulls, I would repair those first thing, and see if your issue is resolved. Are you having misfire or car getting shaky at low or high speeds?

Get the cheapest brake cleaner you can find, a clean rag (I prefer clean if you’re CLEANING tools…) and get some DL Permatex Hand Cleaner, it’s a white container a few inches high, and it’s circular, and has a Blue label, and the lip is a pop-off pop-on. The cleaner inside is kind of like a gel, it’s Made to clean oil, grease, ect. off of skin and metal. As for the rust, I’d say sand paper would work a little. ๐Ÿ™‚ Keep us posted!

Toyotakarl, I can tell you right now with 100% confidence that I’ve had a vaccume leak for…. well at lease 6-8 months, it was so small, it wasn’t affecting anything and it wasn’t noticable. How do I diagnose if there IS one?

With the trans leak, run the car, id say 10 mins, or around the block, put cardboard or something underneath the vehicle, that will give the general area where the leak may be coming from, the brake pedal sounds like it could be a caliper going bad, have you removed the brakes and checked? What do they look like, as for pad wear, and rotor groves, is the rubber around the caliper piston fully seated or is it torn or even slipping off at all?

Thanks Eric, when I take my brakes apart to see the results, I will see if there is a nut for me to get onto with a Wrench, and see if that wilkl solve the issue, and at the same time, I will Lube the pins and let you know the results, you have helped me better than my local garage has!! Any other questions, I’ll come straight to you, thanks again man!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

By the look of that rotor, something may have been caught in the brakes somewhere at some point, perhaps alignment was off and the tire was bent, or maybe a previous accident involving the vehicle, all in all, the pads wear around the rotor, what I mean is, if there’s a groove or anything wrong with the rotors, the pads will wear to accomidate this. Judging by my expirience (Not long at all) I would say to replace the rotors. If someone else says differently, go with their word, I have less than 2 years of expirience with Brakes, as others have over 10 or even 20 years. This is my personal opinion. ๐Ÿ™‚

Also, one more question about my brakes…. when I re-inserted my caliper slides, they tightened down at first, but the next time I removed them (Left side, front tire), when I re-installed the Lower Slide Pin, when I try to tighten it, all it wants to do is spin. The top one tightens. Any ideas??

I watched the video you made on replacing the Caliper on your Subaru, the one where you did the Timing belt the day before you sold it lol… and I got the Anti-Seize compound, and that same Silicone Paste you posted for me to buy, that’s the stuff I used, I think it may be because the original slide pins for my car, were replaced with “usable” ones, I am lead to believe the manufacture pins were 8MM hex, with sleves that were meant for sliding, but the pins I have are long bolts with small threads at the tip of them. I will be taking my brakes apart shortly for inspection and to see if I can get more paste on them, I will take a few pictures, and hopefully you’ll be able to Guide me in the right direction with it.. I trust your word. You’re the reason I’m into Auto Mechanics, watching your videos inspired me to do my own repairs, and following your directions has made the difference! ๐Ÿ™‚ I will post shortly with Pictures, it’s raining a little right now, and I don’t have direct access to a garage at the moment. I’ll keep you posted, and thanks again Eric!!!
