Free play on the track rod ends up to 1/64th. Rack, 1/32. MAXIMUM
Looks like you have a worn or damaged rack…

I want to say first I don’t deal with Honda’s. But I know this the free play on this rack is unacceptable and possibly dangerous.

Here is an example of a wiring loom degrading… This is a design feature common to all manufacturers.

Corroded copper doesn’t conduct. So the more oxygen in the copper the higher the resistance. = Voltage drops.. PVC insulation starts to breakdown around about 10 years. This lets oxygen past. This then starts copper corrosion. We used to keep wiring looms in boxes in the parts department. Even without getting wet the insulation after 30 years had turned to dust.

Manufacturers thereby are sure your going to keep buying new cars. It’s the same reason Delorian cars never got off the ground. “Stainless steel cars… They will put us out of business”…

              Helpfully

How to stop leaving tools in vehicles. I’m lucky as I work alone. So I can have a tool peg board the tools I use have a place on the board. when the job is finished I check to see if any are missing… Tools just cost too much not to.

Here are some of the tools that make life easier…

Notice the 6 point Mac tools spanner, which is a great tool that helps prevent rounding.

The official unit from Mercedes… Oh but the ECU for the trunk is by Bosch! The MB star reader cannot understand the protocol used.

Most tools can read data… the Snap-on Verus can reprogram too. For example, the Mercedes Benz ‘star reader’ has only half the features, and unlike the Verus it doesn’t talk to the boot[trunk]opener ECU.

Hello Tish, I’m here in Scotland I have a new small shop mostly dealing with Mercedes cars.
Today, I am replacing a gearbox filter and changing the backend and gearbox oil (EP90)on a $96000 SLR
College seems to be a nightmare. I would look at doing courses at a manufacturer which they run for a little Money. Eric’s Videos are a great starting point too.

                                  How are you doing?
                                  Jane
