I live in northern ireland which is part of the UK and so its all MPH, but ‘down south’, or the republic of ireland they work with KPH, its a problem when driving there because you see 100 in a red circle and some people do 100 MPH when its actually 100 KPH S:)
It also causes a problem if buying a car from there they are still right hand drive but the speedometer is all in the wrong units, my aunt recently bought a toyota yaris and paid

I bought my mum a peugeot 106 1.5 diesel, she had always drove petrol cars up to that point, a few days later she arrives at the house saying its driving very lumpy and smoking a lot, i take a look and cant get it started but the fuel gague has some fuel. I prime it up and can feel fuel in the primer. Then i go to the fuel cap and smell the distinct smell of petrol.i
It wasnt too hard to fix, a new fuel filter and filling the tank up with diesel, it ran a bit lumpy for a few minuites but eventually it ran smooth.

It came with some car mats when i got it, but after a while i just threw them in the bin, so the floor is just metal, but i like the idea of expanding foam to fix the rust, it would at least keep the muck out. I have looked at the rest of the sammy and thought of replacing the front wing but even behind it is rusty. I dont mind since its not going on the road it wont need an mot/veichle test, the plan in the future would be to get a sammy in good condition and to use this one for parts.

The front calipers need replacing, even after some wd40 and hammering the passenger side valve snapped off, but i have ordered a pair of new calipers, at the moment the brakes consist of the nearest wall or ditchS:)

The sammy is great for off roading, the tyres on mine are ordinary road tyres but i am very impressed by where this can go even on them, a locking diff would be nice but it can get about the farm ok,

before i had discovered suzukis my only experience with off roaders was a land rover:

The body looked good, but it was underneath were the problems lay, the chasis was in a terrible state a friend welded it up, some new seats, lights, and a quick service to the engine i sold it on for a profit, they are fairly easy to work on and the parts are easy enough to get, they just are not as much fun to drive as the suzuki.

Im not a fan of vw cars, my dad had a 2003 passat for a while which was a nice solid feeling car, but the dash rattled and the central locking failed twice. The diesel engine in it was no way as smooth as the diesel engine in the toyota avensis.
One thing about vw is that here we can buy skoda which are still made with vw parts but with a lower purchase price, and they get better reliability/customer satisfaction in the surveys.

About the egr valve, i have a peugeot 406 hdi diesel, for a while i put a blanking plate over the egr, but it didnt really make a difference except make it harder to start in the cold weather, i took out the blank and used some wynns diesel spray egr cleaner, the car clattered a lot when it was sprayed in. After that the car definatley run better.
But a ecu remap on a turbo diesel is good, i got a remap file from a car which had been remapped and put it on my own, it made a noticeable difference.

My first car was a 2004 fiat panda 1.1, it was bought at an auction quite cheap, although the rear window was smashed, the inside was all moldy and needed stripping out and replacement, the front door had to be replaced. It was great fun when it was running but the engine blew and i couldn’t get another one cheap enough.
