I have replaced a few Vauxhall Astra auto transmissions where the seal between the rad and transmission fluid have failed (fairly common problem over here).I always blank off the original routing and add an oil cooler which is the way it should have been designed.
Doing this is a cheaper option for the customer and also negates the same problem arising again.I have replaced a few Vauxhall Astra auto transmissions where the seal between the rad and transmission fluid have failed (fairly common problem over here).I always blank off the original routing and add an oil cooler which is the way it should have been designed.

The tension for the chain is provided by oil pressure to the tensionerSeptember 17, 2013 at 11:18 am in reply to: 98 NIssan Frontier with “Zero” compression #2 cyc. #549595vibration can cause them to crack. That would not cause the timing chain issues, I believe this was caused by the tensioner giving up, possibly due to poor maintenance ie.. lack of regular oil changes, running low oil etc.

Sorry I was referring to spark plugs, you may have the beginning of a misfire

Had a look at the data, can you pull your plugs and see if they are all the same? The reason I ask is that the emissions side seems ok, so it is worth checking plugs ignition side as a miss can set the svs light.

What oil filter has your mechanic used? I have seen pattern part filters restrict the oil flow before. This will cause similar issues. As it started straight after the oil change diagnosis needs to start at that point.

September 15, 2013 at 9:25 pm in reply to: 98 NIssan Frontier with “Zero” compression #2 cyc. #549033I would say as you have zero compression on number 2 it would most likely have a bent valve or two.
When the tensioner let go the chain is most likely to have jumped teeth.
Providing you have checked timing etc and all is good and your compression test was carried out correctly. I would take rocker cover off, remove plugs and turn over by hand, hopefully you will be able to see what the valve buckets on number 2 are doing. Are they coming up as far as the others etc. If you are unable to check using this method then I am afraid the camshafts will have to come out so you can see that way. By the sounds of things it is pointing to a head off job.September 15, 2013 at 9:25 pm in reply to: 98 NIssan Frontier with “Zero” compression #2 cyc. #544426I would say as you have zero compression on number 2 it would most likely have a bent valve or two.
