The mass discounters took away most of our tire business(thank God)over the last 15 years. Low and ultra-low profile tires of recent times are hard enough work. And don’t get me started about the popularity of ridiculously big and heavy pick-up and suv stuff! The company gradually moved to mostly maintenance and service work which is much more profitable anyway. In the last year I worked there, I only did maybe 30-50 tires per week.

I’ve done that pit crew trip too. That can be pretty hard work! I would only recommend a manual tire changer for implement and motorcycle tires. Just breaking the beads on most modern stuff without a big powerful machine can be a soul-destroying experience!
