I figured it out guys! It was so simple.

My SRI was the problem. The filter was fixed to the MAF and I think what was happening was the air coming into the filter did not have enough time to evenly disperse before it got to the MAF. So what would happen was small streams denser air would slip past the MAF element and the O2 would pick it up as a lean signal. It wasn’t making a difference at low rpm’s but at higher rpms and load, more and more of it would silp past the MAF then the LTFT would count up to compensate.

Today I put the stock air box back on to see if it would help. I got 1/2 mile down the road and the LTFT’s when from 17.3 to 11.7, then 10.3, then 7, then 3. Both banks are at 3.9 and 3.1! I almost lost it in the car. I started to tear up abit. After almost a year of fighting this damn thing, it turned out to be the stupid SRI setup. I was so close to just buying new o2’s and maybe a new ECU.

I learned a very valuable lesson today but I’m not really sorry for all the diagnosis I did to try to fix the problem. I learned alot! I really appreciate all the feedback from you guys. I hope if anybody has this same issue, they will find my thread!.

      Thanks again guys!!!

Just wanted to update you guys. I swapped out my fuel pump with a known good pump and it did not change my problem. Eric said in the Q&A that he didn’t think it was the aftermarket exhaust and to check for vacuum leaks. I did check for vacuum leaks again and found nothing. The trims are counting up only at high rpm/vehicle speeds. The O2’s are reporting about .75v at idle and about the same at cruising speed. I’m gonna see if I can do a compression test at the shop test to see if it’s maybe a valve.

Anybody got any other ideas? Think it could be my catback setup?

It has in the past thrown a light for P0171 and P0174. I believe for my car the computer throws a CEL light at 22-25 percent trim. I’m waiting on injectors to see if that fixes it. Funny thing is, my fuel economy is not too bad, but the car feels like it has less power than it use to.

Update: I changed out the injectors today and gave it a test drive. After a good 10-15 mile drive and some good amount of speed, the trims are starting to count back up again. Currently at 11.7% on both banks. My O2 and catalyst monitors are not ready, even after the proper driving conditions. I’m out of ideas guys…:(

Unlikely. Before I put the new fuel pump in, the problem was still there.

Normal stock pressure is 50 psi. Nobody knows the volume, not even hyundai. I think the pressure is up because of a restriction/clog in the injectors.

I did make an observation today. My fuel economy is pretty normal. About 250 miles per tank (12 gal tank). That tells me it’s not a vacuum leak. It tells me the system is trying to inject a certain amount of fuel but all that fuel isn’t able to make it to the cylinders as fast as the computer wants it to. Everything is pointing to clogged injectors.

I knew the Airtex was a bad move. If the new injectors does change anything, I’ll contact Airtex for a refund.

I have a MAF setup. The sensor was swapped with a known good MAF that showed no change. The SRI was swapped out to the stock airbox, again, no change.
