What To Do When Your Car is in a Flood -ETCG1
I don’t like to be the bearer of bad news, but in my experience, most flood cars are a write off. By the time you’re done with all the time, money, and effort, it will likely cost way more than the vehicle is worth. Not to mention the other problems that tend to creep up down the road. For those reasons, I recommend you get another vehicle.
Especially in the next few months if you’re looking to purchase a used vehicle and the price seems too good to be true, it probably is. It may be a flood damaged vehicle. You can use sites like CarFax to look up the vehicle history, but they only report on things that have been reported to the insurance company. If they vehicle was never on record as being in a flood, it won’t show up on those reports.
I offer some tips in this video about how to spot a potentially previously flooded vehicle, but I recommend having any vehicle you’re looking to purchase checked out by an experienced mechanic before commit to that vehicle.
Thanks for watching!
