Gas Smell

When car sits and idles the car smells like gas. You get in car and drive around the smell seems to go away. Not throwing any codes. Not sure why this is happening. Any suggestions.

I don’t know where you live but when ambient temperature is very low nearly every vehicle smells like gas. The computer causes the mixture to be very rich in extreme cold conditions during the extended time it takes the engine to warm and the catalytic convertor will take longer to start functioning.

Engines run on Gasoline vapor not liquid gasoline. If it 10 degrees below zero gasoline is not much interested in being vapor. The way the computer provides enough vapor to operate an engine at cold start is by dumping in a large amount of fuel. The engine burns the vapor, the rest passes to the exhaust where the cold catalytic converter is still sleeping and gasoline is part of the exhaust.
