P1135 Air Fuel Sensor Heater Circuit Responce Malfunction

My Dad have a Toyota Tundra 2002 6Cil and have this code. I Have found out that this is for the upstream Oxigen Sensor. I would like to test resistance of the heater like eric show on the video but don’t know wich two cables are for the Heater. do anybody have a wiring diagram of this?

      Thanks
      David…

Thanks for the update. The difference between an A/F sensor and an O2 sensor isn’t much. An A/F sensor is really 2 O2 sensors in one. One sensor is for cold start up before closed loop. The other sensor works like a regular O2 sensor. They both have heaters so you need to be sure to test the correct heater when doing your testing.

            Update:

I receive the new O2 sensor and the connector does not match, I was going to returne it but my father convince me to just cut the wires and put the cnector for the old O2 Sensor. I did this and I still Have the same problem same code. But when I diagnost the sensor is working like it should. I have close to 0 resistance on the heater and I have Voltage on the sensor side wires. but the computer keep saying that I have problem with the heater and the voltage reading with the scanner is over 3Volts.

Does using the incorrect Sensor cause this? even when I put all the cables on the coorect place? or maybe their is another problem? Because I check for resistance on the Old Sensor and it has 1 Untlimited resistance so the sensor was bad but know I have a new in good working condition on and still have the same code. One thin I notice is that the cables that feed the heater has 9Volts not 12Vols has I expected.

Any comments? I’m planning to buy the correct sensor to see if that has anything to do with it. The vendor say that this sensor is for Manual Transmition insted of automatic but I don’t see the relevance of it aside from the connector being diferent.

I wonder do you have a short in the wiring somwhere?
Possibly between the signal wire and a heater wire.

If you have 0 resistance on the heater circuit then the heater
circuit is bad or the wiring is wrong. if the connector was wrong.
how did you know what wire went where?

Well Haven’t check for that but will do as far as I can see all seam to be in excelent conditions but will trace the wires back to see what I can find.

                  Thanks…

0 resistance mins it has continuity between the tow wires of the heater (I belive this is tha whay it should be)

The connectors don’t match but they are almost identical and both connectors have numbers on the wires 1,2,3,4 wich corresponds with one of the wiring diagram that I have and I tested the cables to make shure they did what they supose to do so I’m shure for that part that I put every wire in the wright place so ether the sensor is diferent in more that the connector or their is a problem else where.

My dad don’t care about getting this fixed since he doesn’t sence anithing wrong when he drive the truck but I’m very curius to find out what’s wrong. I think I’ll buy a new sensor the thing is the correct one is more expensive than the one I bought. The one I got was $17.00 and the correct one is like $75.00 from the same seller so That send me to belive that this sensors are diferent inside not just the connector. but since I know my father won’t pay for the new sensor I Have to whait till I can buy it for him and try to put the correct one to see if this fix the problem in the meantime I’ll probably check the wires to see if I can find anithing wrong with them.

do you know where is the computer in this truck? Maybe I can take some readdings at the computer port and compare them with the scanner so see if the computer is reporting correctly.

This is the first Video Diagnosting the O2 Sensor

You’re right, it’s not a wide band sensor. If it was it would have at LEAST 5 wires, more like 7. I’ll cover their operation at some point in a future video. Aftermarket parts don’t always work out so many times you need to spend a little more to get the right part. Keep us posted on your progress, I think we’re almost there.

                          you are ded on.

My father is cheep and since he doesn’t feel any performance issue won’t invest in a New Original sensor. I bought a $25 dollar sensor (But it is for Manual Trans) and the connector didn’t match I cut the cables and put the old connector but didn’t solve the issue.

I belive the sensor work diferent in some whay because when I read for voltage on the signal wire it will be 0.001 to 0.2 but with the heather disconected I belive that is too low.

So I decided to buy the correct one and I manage to find one for $55 even I belive My father won’t pay for it I don’t care I just whant to fix this for him. I’m Whatting it to get to mee to try with this one.

Thanks For taking the time to answer.

                              Update:

Today I replace the sensor I bough for $25 for a $55 that is the correct fit and the code whent away and the O2 sensor after the catalitic reported a lener mixture than before. By the way mi father did pay the new sensor.

One thing that is keping me confuse is that the new sensor votage is in 3 volts and fluctuate in the 3.1 to 3.9 and I understood that the sensor supose to fluctuate from 0.1 to 0.9 this is a mistery for me but it sim to be working good. Soon I’ll pos a Vid.

Thanks for the update. You’re right, that doesn’t sound like the proper voltage. Perhaps you’re looking at the wrong wires or something. OR there could be an issue in the wiring somewhere. Even if it’s an AF sensor it still functions in much the same way as a regular O2 sensor. I’d say if your check engine light is gone you should be fine unless it comes back.
