Wow people truly suck! That guy that showed up in the middle of the night to take his car back without paying for work is especially awful. From what I am hearing I think I’ll just stick with family/friends at least for now and see how it goes.

      Thanks everyone

      Steve

So essentially side work is risky and not worth itunless you properly set up or only work on family/friends stuff?

So you’re saying it would be a good idea to just stick with family/friends for now since I wouldn’t be a dedicated shop for insurance? And when you do your side work do you just undercut what a local shop’s labor rate is? I don’t really know what would be fair pricing but don’t want to charge to little like one of my buddies does

            Thanks for the advice guys.

I didn’t mean to sound like I feel owed something or that I shouldn’t have to pay my dues. I don’t mind the oil changes and tires just so long as it’s not all I do 24/7. I guess a big part of it is at my last job they started throwing new stuff at me and we’re trying to help me advance/learn as much as possible after 2 months. It’s been much longer than that at the dealer and its just not happening I feel stuck in a rut. I finished all the training videos I had available and don’t think I’ll be getting anymore anytime soon.

Guess I was just wondering if I’m wasting my time if there are other places where they might be more likely to recognize potential and throw me a bone once in a while.

              Hey all,
Name’s Steven and am currently 6 months in professionally at a national chain store but have a few years experience wrenching on cars and power sports.

I’ve learned so much from watching Eric’s videos and probably wouldn’t be half as good/knowledgeable as I am today if it weren’t for his videos. Can’t thank you enough Eric
