thanks you..and I’ll update what I find later… right now, I go ahead replace all 4 spark plugs and PCV.
HOW CAN YOU TELL IF YOUR CAR BURN OIL? ERIC EXPLAIN IF YOU HAVE DEPOSITE AROUND THE ELECTROS, THEN ITS SIGN OF
burn oil. burn oil means i have a bad valve seal? my all 4 spark plugs have deposite around the electro of spark plugs.is the deposit means I have burn oil? a bad seal?
please comment…
Here the pics today I removed the spark plugs… All 4 spark plugs look just like this…
what is wrong? I do loss oil consumption little each time I drive 40 miles… do you guy think valve seals bad or I have bad ring?
today, I recheck and there is no oil in spark plug tubes at all after replaced all spark plug seals. but i still burn oil and the pic above look like oil burn around the double tips… please comment what can be wrong… valve seals gad or ring bad? if I do compression test, will that reveal ring bad or good.
all 4 spark plugs has the same thing all across.. see attached pic above…
What set of tool do I need to buy in order performing compression test?
Any website to buy complete set compression test kit?
Thank all the great comments….
today, I let the car in parking (P) with engine idle and raising the RPM up to see if there is any smoking goes out the exhaust pipe. i did not see any blue smoke but i know there some black smoke come out the pipe when i raise RPM up…
black smoke come out is normal?
however, I took my hand and touch exhaust pipe where the CO2 exit. i see there is smoke deposit around where the exhaust escape… is this normal? or sign of valve seals worn…
what precaution do I need to take when performing the compression test? disable the Fuel Injection fuse right? do I need to remove all 4 spark plugs before I perform compression test…
anyone has a link how to perform compression test? this is my first time of doing the compression test…not really familiar ..can someone show me in right direction diy or youtube compression test…
tomorrow, I’ll call around which store has..and I’ll buy one.
how long should I wait for RTV to dry before run the engine?
I HAVE A BIG QUESTION… when I removed the spark plug#1, I saw oil on thread of the spark plug, but not on top surface of spark plug.
Does this a sign of SPARK PLUG TUBE seal bad cause oil leak around the thread of the spark plug? or have a valve seal bad?
please share your thoughts on this because I don’t want to remove when it’s unnecessary for extra work not solve the problem.
ERIC or someone can comments on this…
SAY goodbye to 2004 Acura TL! The car declared totally loss…

Here the pics that I want to share the things I had done to solve the trouble codes

2) after pic EGR port had been cleaned
3) pic bottom intake that EGR port passage back to EGR valve
January 2, 2012 at 11:00 am in reply to: Should replacing Camshaft seals be part of routine timing belt / water pump maintenance #454025Yes, replaced camshaft seal because you never know when the camshaft seal go bad… since you’re there, you might well put new seals… just be patient and careful when you remove the seals…try not to put any dent around the holly hole where the seal go in…because if there is dent, it’ll leak again.
More BAD LUCK for me…. Just park the car Acura on street overnight at a friend house, someone hit and run…. the car damaged is somewhere 3000-4000 to fix….they hit from rear.. I can’t believe it… I am very careful when it comes to car.. ONE night at a friend house cost me more $$$ ….
December 30, 2011 at 11:00 am in reply to: Flush or Not to Flush 2003 Acura TL Transmission. #445298the dealer recommend flush transmission at 60k miles… I have 2004 Acura TL 6 Cylinder at 139,000 miles… kept the transmission fluid (red)… So far I have had flush 2 times on my 2004 TL because the first time the fluid was really dark (dirty)… just keep the transmission fluid (red) not brown or dark.
HOPE one day, Honda will made better transmission…..if not, people will buy different car…
does anyone know 2004 Acura TL has differential fluid when the car is automatic? not familiar Honda… I know Toyota has differential fluid and transmission fluid separately.
Hi everyone,
I picked the car up today, the car ran great without 6 cylinder misfires. the total cost $700.00.. they charge total timebelf labor job..the only part they have to replace was Automatic Tensioner Adjust .
$450 labor
$155.00 part tensioner adjust
$79.00 diagnostic ( good price I though)
plus taxThey kept my old water pump and timebelt..they’re still good because was changed @110,000 miles and now at 139,000 miles. next time, if I do the timebelt, I’ll change new automatic tensioner adjust because you can’t tell when the tensioner adjust goes bad. I did not do the timebelt, I had the shop did for me…and they did not change automatic tensioner….
The automatic tensioner was bad because oil leak out… from this experience, I learned a lot. Next time, I’ll do the timebelt myself . I’ll put a new automatic tensioner because don’t cut cost at the tensioner.
The mechanic told me..the tensioner normally good for two timebelts…maybe someone can comment on that… I don’t want to take another chance…
I am happy with the result and the job well done…
Tomorrow, I’ll share the pics bad automatic tensioner and pics intake manifold dirty EGR port.
SPECIAL THANKS TO ERIC and ALL YOU GUYS BECAUSE WITH OUT YOU GUYS. I DON’T KNOW WHERE TO START AND FINISH. LEARN A LOT FROM this ACURA problem.
The car gas pedal response much better after cleaning all EGR ports…
ERIC,
Is 2004 Acura TL valve adjustment as part maintenance? I hear a small tick tick sound….
Ok guys, today the car is in shop. the service guy told me the time belt was one 1 teeth off that cause all 6 cylinder misfires He told me, the hydraulic tensioner perhaps can’t hold the time belt; therefore, the belt loose 1 teeth off. the mechanic did compression test, verify cylinder 4,5,6 has 250..and cylinder 1,2,3 has 200… he said the compression goes back to 250 after time belt in alignment.
My big question is…since the CEL (check engine light) with all 6 cylinder misfires came up… drove the car like that for test drove…and verfy the check engine light…
can that cause damage to the engine?
mechanic verify the fuel trims, OK.. he also, said the fuel pump ok and fuel injector, OK and COIL pack OK… he asked me what I have done to the car…and I told him..and he look more…in time belt ..then he found the problem…
Updated more later….
