Hey guys sorry it took me so long to get back, I started working 3rd shift. So i ended up replacing the PRNDL safety switch still to no avail. Same problems as before only comes out of park when it wants to when brake lamp is lit and the S light blinks on very dewy mornings. Is there a next step or should i bring it to a specialist?
Sounds good. So it seems that i fixed the shifting issue and blinking “S” light by readjusting the neutral safety switch(contacts are almost down to the copper). The brake lamp still comes on, and when on wont let me shift out of park. You think it could be a lazy brake light switch or something on the pedal? I checked all the bulbs they all work when on dimmer and when pressed, no corrosion in sockets.
Ya must not of aligned it just right started slowly not releasing the break again and break light came on. Gunna go grab some honda tranny fluid, drain check the cond and top off cant hurt been 30k since i had it flushed and had a ruff winter and hot summer this year in buffalo. P.S. Are u near the Columbus area i play hockey at the chiller rinks every march, buy u a few beers for the help lol.
Eric thanks again that worked(last time was the fuel pump relay put a nice bead of solder and flux on there and worked great. tx!!). Took the switch out and was full of gunk, about 20 years of dust mixed with grease. Didn’t have any contact cleaner so i used high proof rubbing alcohol, scuffed the metal a little bit, worked like a charm shifter unlocks and brake lamp is gone. So i tried pulling codes, no codes. i unhooked the upper tranny selonode and got a faint flash(about half second maybe less) followed by a more solid half second flash. When i drive with the sport shit on it seems to shift fine, but when off 2nd gear doesn’t want to shift till almost 3 1/2 rpm i have to let off the gas to shift if not. Should i take out the tcm and test it??
