I used to have a 2003 Imapla LS with the 3.8. That car moved pretty good. I always wanted an 04/05 SS, someday…

Sounds like you are on the right track, get the basics done first – brakes/suspension – then go for performance. You could always look into dropping an LS1 in there http://www.superchevy.com/features/0303gmh-2000-ls1-powered-impala-ss-feature/#photo-05 lol

        Good luck with the build!

The Impact Wrench itself is a big factor. I picked up a cheap 10gal compressor and tried a cheap Craftsman Impact Wrench, it couldn’t break lugs loose.

Picked up a HF Earthquake impact, and it just spins the lugs off. Same compressor. Funny thing is the Craftsman is rated at 5cfm, the Earthquake at 7cfm. Both were oiled before use.

Recently came down to the 231C, $130, or the HF Earthquake, $80 with coupon. I’m a hobbyist and will use this rarely, so I went the cheaper route. Works great though. Powered by 10gal compressor and takes off 5 lug nuts without cycling.

                  Wow.

I never used airtools, didn’t want to dump a bunch of money into a first compressor, so I went with a Harbor Freight 10gal. After break in, fills quick, not too loud (I have other tools that are much louder). Plus its more than enough to run 1/2 impact and air ratchet. Not bad for under $150. Its proven the value of air tools to me, when it goes I’ll look into getting something bigger.

A project car is way more fun when you can leave it apart and still have another car to get you from a to b.

Plus, if you’re into GM, check out an ls1 or lt1 car. They are getting pretty cheap and fall more in line with “make a fast car faster”.

My buddy’s shop has better vice grips, half turn and the leak stopped. We purged the air using the other sides of the lines at the porpotioning valve/ABS block and now the brakes rock! The bigger rotors and dual piston calipers make a huge difference.

Now I just need an alignment and I can call the front end rebuild complete, thanks for all the help and the vids, couldn’t have done it without them!

Turns out fluid is seeping from the fittings at the master that connect the hardlines. Noticed it by accident when cleaning things off.

Tried to tighten, but the fittings are mangled by previous owner. Tried tightening with vise grips but no go. Going to get those lines replaced and go from there. Thanks for the help.

                                  Rears are disks.

Lots of write ups for swapping 93-97 front brakes for 98-02, the 95 master should be fine, but I’ll keep that in mind. I’ll also try the parking brake adjustment.

I think I narrowed it down to a passenger side issue. I rebled the driver side, kept the passenger rubber hose clamped, and the pedal was firm. Removed the clamp, bled the passenger, but could never get the pedal to firm up. Is there anything I should be looking for on the caliper?

As for clamping, Im just going by the videos, and desperation to figure out where the air is getting in. Car has been off the road for a while now for a bunch of stuff, this is just the last thing to finish up.
