      The screeching starter would indicate a bad pinion gear on the starter.

        Can’t wait for the engine tear down video. Will you be doing the rebuild yourself Eric or sending it off to a machine shop or specialist? l love watching those rebuild videos on youtube. Have seen a few on youtube that are good (Petes Garage and Myvintageiron7512).

            Hi,

            I have Hilliers Fundamentals of Motor Vehicle Technology 6th Edition (Book 1) and Hilliers Fundamentals of Automotive Electronics 6th Edition (Book 2) and both are extremely useful in understanding all the different parts of the modern car. They both have extensive diagrams of all the parts invilved and the theory behind them. Great books imo. Hope that helps.
