First of all you need to check your transmission oil to make sure you have enough oil to see If you don’t have a oil leak. You might try to add Lucas transmission oil conditioner to help shifting.
If the oil is fine, you might check this potential problem : Ptential problems. Some of is problem are cost repair for a flywheel. But anyway I will put Lucas Transmission Fixanyway because transmission repair cost a lot.

I saw some picture on Google of the motor without the gasket. I saw one place where the coolant come from nee the oil motor head. My deduction, gasket leak may also leak motor oil in you manifold. So I’m pretty sure you need to replace It whit OEM part as possible to avoid to change It again sooner that expected. The picture I saw was on this forum : coolant_intake_manifold_gasket

You can use a 60 US $ complete multimeter to do the test.

The PDF file show to you the voltage and Amp you need on a battery and alternator.

If use you car heater in your car, you use a part of you engine heat. So, your heater is a second radiator. Then if you facing the wind when you siting in front a red light you might notice temperature drop. I live In Canada in Quebec province and the temperature was -40°C whit the wind. My gage dropped all the time when I use my heater and on idle at the red light. But was in the middle when I did not use the heater. See the video over heat problem to confirm that the heater is a second radiator.

How to diagnose :
If your temperature sensor was not working, you will have automatically radiator fan start problem and you should not be able to see the gage going up. You will see the gage stuck in C.
