Many thanks for the comments. Finally got around to changing out the electrical portion of the switch.

It doesn’t come on during start up from what my daughter tells me….Just comes on during the course of a drive and generally stays on until the car is turned off.
Even when the brake light lamp is illuminated I still have yet to find a bulb that isMy daughter’s 1992 Accord EX recently started showing an illuminated “Brake Light” Lamp….
Now to be clear…this is NOT the light that goes on when you pull the E-Brake.
It’s the light that is located at the bottom of the light cluster that indicates open doors etc.
What is this light telling me?
All the brake and tail-lights seem to be working fine.Agreeing with Eric….of course…who wouldn’t?
Recently got an 1992 Accord on the road again after well over two years sitting motionless in my driveway. Immediate issues confronted:
gas line had a few leaks in it due to corrosion…..
Brakes—– seized—-All round new rotors and new calipers in the front…I got lucky with the calipers in the back.
Needed a new cat and had another small leak in the front pipe….also required an o2 sensor…
Incidentally…a few months prior to parking this car the exhaust had been redone front to back….welcome to the forums

So far so good with http://www.primechoiceautoparts.ca
So far have bought brake rotors, pads and a wheel hub bearing.
Will they last? Don’t know…can’t say for sure…but the savings were enormous. Wheel hub bearing for my Saturn Vue was $140 at local parts store for a Chinese aftermarket…..Wheel hub bearing at primechoiceautoparts was $37 for a Chinese aftermarket….
We’ll see how it goes.
UPS overnight shipping included for orders over $35….not so bad…
I’ve just used the Canadian website but I know they have an American website as well.September 18, 2011 at 11:00 am in reply to: 2006 Saturn Vue 2.2L stiff shifter —5 spd manual #439412Changed the fluid out yesterday and have driven it about 80km since then….shifter seems a little better but i know it isn’t quite right.
when checking the linkage for binding is this done from inside the car…lifting out the console surrounding the shifter?WELCOME TONY
Hey Eric…..you must be tired, man…..you’re a work-horse…
Changed cat on your advice earlier and car passed e-test.
Car is good to go….until next time.
Thanks a million.i’m with rice400 —
disconnect the negative battery cable for a few minutes.
that will probably clear the CEL if, in fact the CEL was related to the O2 sensor in the first place.
if the CEL is still there and you don’t have a code reader take vehicle to your local auto parts store and let them use their code reader. if there’s one thing that most of us ETCG disciples can tell you, Eric continually preaches diagnostics against throwing money at parts and hoping for the best.
good luckSeptember 15, 2011 at 11:00 am in reply to: 2006 Saturn Vue 2.2L stiff shifter —5 spd manual #439407Fixed the leak in the exhaust…
Failed the etest.Changed the catalytic converter….and then it PASSED!!
Thanks to all contributors to this thread for all your help.
It was pretty nice to solve a problem systematically rather than taking shots in the dark…(and the wallet).@ BigC – tested the EGR with the vacuum pump and it’s operational.
@ ETCG – EGR port plugs were pulled, ports cleaned and new plugs installed. There is now a very noticeable exhaust leak in the front pipe at the flex.
