I know the last post was a little while ago. I was wondering if the new glass you bought is thicker than the old glass? Maybe a different design window channel felt or even rubber is now available?
I haven’t done anything with the doors just yet. I’m still working on the engine for now adding a new distributor and rebuilding the carb., cleaning and sealing the gas tank, working on putting in bucket seats, etc. I know the glass was the same because it fit right in the edge frame around the glass. The other side wasnt replaced with new glass and it’s doing the same thing. I’m going to go over the regulators and anything else that may be causing it. The felt channel came from LMC trucks as well as the glass so it should be right anyhow. I know that their window regulator arms are cheaply made. The window turn rod mechanism strip’s out really easily.
Ok, got it on the silicone thanks. I’m guessing you meant on rubber channels. I plan to attack the windows once I get this carb. back on and a distributor in. If I can work the glass down to the sweet spot, where the screws holding the glass, then I can check the regulators closer. I may go with a rubber mallet gingerly until I can get something to budge. These are some cheap quality regulators from LMC so it’s possible. Thanks, I’ll keep the board informed.
I have no idea how your motor looks, etc. but on an older vehicle when you had a leak like that it was a water pump draing fluid out of the weep hole on the bottom of the pump because it has gone bad. If your engine uses this type of water pump I would look/ feel under the pump for antifreeze.

Did you try adding silicone lubricant to the channels the windows ride in like in Eric’s window fix on the SAAB Turbo?
No I didn’t but I did just catch that and will have to try it. I hope Kroil Silicate penetrating oil works for that. I understand how that can help but I just don’t think that’s the issue here though. I have the felt riveted in so it’s not like it’s loose in the window. Whats also messed up is the fact that you cant move the glass to where you can unscrew them to check how the regulators are moving without the glass. They both worked before I installed the glass. The broken window that had the glass replaced was working before all this, it was just stripped out on the handle shaft end. I’d bet it’s something simple but those old doors don’t give you much room to see in. I was just hoping to pick up a few good possible solutions or experienced ideas that’s had to tackle this. The silicate is one. A rubber mallet is two 🙂
Thank you and I got’m all except the Mustang posted on my profile. They are about 2005 pictures but not much has changed since they were taken. The GMC Sprint was my daily driver until yesterday.
