Hey that STP worked! So B2k1977, try that and I am sure it will fix your problem.

I would like to fix the problem more permanently, I think I am going to replace the rod/main bearings first and see if the problem goes away, then the oil pump. And if it is STILL there I am going to conclude that my engine is just worn out.
I have been using Mobil Super High Mileage 5W20 Conventional. The mfg recommends Motorcraft 5W-20 Synthetic Blend…But after watching the videos about oil pressure and the pressure related problems that led me to replacing my transmission *cough cough* I am scared to death to mess with it. What do you guys think? There is a local parts store that sells this oil. Also to note, I am trying to stay as oem as possible, I did the spark plugs and put oem motorcraft plugs back in it. I have a mechanical oil pressure gauge, I was going to run a test. I purchased a Haynes DIY manual for my car, the oil pressure is listed at 11psi @1500rpm. Testing that seems simple enough however, I was considering just replacing the oil pressure switch (sending unit) since it’s a pretty cheap part and it’s right next to the oil filter. I’ll have to wait until it’s next oil change to do this because of the filter being in the way.

All that being said, I have not actually done work on the car myself, the next oil change I plan to do myself, I can read and follow directions pretty well, after looking at a few pictures this all seems pretty simple. I am not an auto technician by any means. I have replaced my brakes, and as far as the engine, I won’t go any deeper inside than the spark plugs.

I’m an IT engineer by trade, just trying to cut corners on repair costs and save some dough doing this simple stuff myself. Any advice you guys could give would me very helpful. I also have a mechanic friend with a garage and lots of tools at my disposal.

      Thanks,
      Brian

I’m having the same problem with my car. 2006 ford fusion 3.0L v6 w/ 125k miles. I will say the only times I’ve noticed it is sometimes in the morning on the way to work. I turn the car off and restart it at lunchtime let it run for 30 mins or more and can’t replicate the issue, it doesn’t do it in the afternoon on the way home, seems just in the morning. I had the trans-axle replaced at 122k. I bought an oil pressure test kit, but I am scared to hook it up and see the result 🙁 Don’t really have the money to rebuild or replace an engine or replace the vehicle. Clogged oil pick-up, not that bad, replacing the oil pump scares the crap out of me since you have to rip almost the entire engine apart.
