      > Personally I don’t think there was anything wrong with the cylinder head.

That’s kind of what I was thinking judging by your … uh… attitude towards this car. I picked that up pretty quick and I’m sure I wasn’t the only one. Normally you have a 2-3+ minute period explaining the car, and this one was a different story however maybe I’ve been used to the fixing it forward series. In my experience the J series is a pretty reliable engine (yeah yeah,,, the 98-2003’s had their EGR problems no doubt) but one that’s being replaced completely is a bit far and few between. To be clear not unheard of, but they’re a bit rare to have to be yanked out completely unless they were abused constantly and not taken care of.

None the less, I’m happy to see a j series engine swap video done by you. Always, excited to see what you’re going to post up on Friday here in Canada, and for me this was a good one. But… Fridays in Canada is jam night and of course I’m there jamming so I watch when I can.

So, Eric, since you’ve given me countless videos of awesomeness, I’d like to give you a bit of music in a basement, In Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada as you’ve said in the past you like Canadian Music in a basement none the less. :woohoo: I promise there’s more where that came from.

So here is a bunch of dudes (and a few other people watching having a drink) showing up for “jam night” in Nova Scotia, Canada. Not a band but we try our best when we show up for jam nights. I’m the drummer BTW. Can you name the song? 😆

EDIT: DAMN IT it says it in the preview.

        Hey Eric,

Just wondering what the owner claims was wrong with the rear cylinder head, and what was the mileage on that engine? Was it lack of oil changes that lead to its “demise”?

My appologies if you mention this in the videos, I’m only about halfway through the first video.

        Thank you!!

Hey Eric. I know this may not mean a whole lot coming from me, but hey I love your videos and I watch them every Friday night. Please keep doing what you’re doing. I know you already know this but… the internet is a cruel place and it’s tough to please everyone especially when you start to change your videos a bit. The true ETCG fans know your money needs to come from somewhere.

Stay.. uh dirty? Am I allowed to say that? 😆

Woa! Thanks for the speedy reply. I like where you’re going with that. I know that most shops will charge you for the litre if they use it or not…. There fore they can just keep the half a litre and use it in someone else’s car… And then charge THAT person for another litre. This is all I theory of course, I’ve never worked in a shop.

I thought it was a pretty good topic, the mechanical aspect has come up in my group of friends/family many times.

Hey Eric, big Eric the car guy fan here from Canada.

I realize I may be really late to the party here but I for one am very excited about you getting one of these cars. My uncle had one of these with the 5 cylinder years ago. It was the car I did my driving test on when I was 16… being a huge Honda fan of course I had to know everything about it.

That 5 banger was such an odd engine for Honda to produce. It’s almost like they looked at Volvo and said… “oh yeah? we can do that too!” and then never produced it again after the 2.5 TL.

I had a 3.2 TL and to be honest I prefered that 3.2 for its quietness and smoothness but I always regret not picking up a 2.5 TL. Having driven a couple in my day I can say I really enjoyed it.

Can’t wait to see more engine vids on this vigor! What a find! Apparently you know the mechanical history on it! 😆

Anyways… if you read this thanks, I really love the new “rebuilding a caliper” video. I love that you have your own camera man now. I really think that will add a lot to the eric the car guy videos.

I had one of these 3.2TLs when I just got out of high school in 2003 after my integra GSR blew up (one of the best engines Honda ever made in my opinion). Basically I learned my lesson on how to treat cars and I owned/drove A 98 TL for 5 years till 350000 kms till the transmission started to eat it. I’ve only noticed now in your video that its a longitudinal mounted V6 (I think thats the term, mounted like most RWD cars) vs a transverse V6 like every other Honda ever besides the S2000. Is the 2.5TL 5 banger mounted like that? Are all the C series V6 mounted longitudinal? Legend and Vigor? What about the NSX? I know thats a rear-mid engine car, but I’ve never been closer than 50 meters to one.

Eric I could watch you work on Honda’s all day. Thank you for doing what you do. Sorry I didn’t have a more relevant question to the video.

Hey Eric, Great vids. Most detailed engine swap EVER WOW! Great job. Sorry to hear about the reason of this vid, you rock man.

NOW! I really hope you start that thing up and take us for a drive! AFTER watching every video of this series and only being a guy that can comfortably do BRAKES on his car and has NO idea how to take an engine out, I hope we get to go for a drive in it and hear that motor. I know its only a 2.2 Sonoma but hey lets hear that thing.

I really missed that on the 5.3 V8 tahoe swap, I watched the whole thing and I wanted to hear it in action.

Much like you did in the TL valve adjustment… at the end you take us for a drive. LOVE IT.

KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DO. You ROCK.
