Boost is measured by psi. Vacuum is Hg. At WOT pressure is almost the same as atmospheric ,so 5Hg sounds right.10Hg around normal load, and 17 to 21 at idle.

I’m glad That I’m not the only one that has problems with ring compressors. Cant wait to see what you use to prime the pump. The newer cars can’t use the zinc because it ruins the Cats.Happy Thanksgiving!

Now I feel guilty for using the bench grinder instead last night, but I it was all I had.. I wonder what type of ring compressor they use that will pop them right in on the first try,There are so many that are just junk.

Here in Georgia an Employer registers you for Emission classes, your not able to register yourself.
I am at the end of a community college school program attending under the Pell Grant. I pay nothing, my instructor owns multiple shops, and I am working side by side with Technicians that are attending to update there skills, I learn from them too. I have found that this is a never ending journey because of all the new technology. If you want to learn there is no reason not to take advantage of a good community college.

Those Mickey Thompsons are way cool. Radial runout should be within 0.035 inches(0.9mm).Lateral runout 0.035″ for for alloy and 0.045″ for steel. Those are the spects from my textbook ,still learning though. Don’t be shaking that tail going down the road!

To justify his inadequate pay, he wants you to feel inadequate.Don’t let him. I believe I would just go to auctions and flip cars in your spare time.

Usually it’s stamped on the rotor.

I have done a couple this month, one was just replacing the leaking seals though. I used the ball of a ball peen hammer hit by another hammer to drive the pinion gear out. One was a 72 olds and the other a older Chevelle. I noticed both axles had to be rewelded . Must of been from the excessive torque. Great video by the way. Probably wont see many builds, mostly wore out trucks and leaking seals.

Unplug the connector to the compressor and see if it is getting power and ground,

I just push on it with a stick, if it engages then the clutch is weak.

Replaced with rebuilt, remanufactured or junk yard? Inspect the splines on the synchronizer sleeves, They are what keeps it from jumping out of gear.

A prevailing torque nut is designed to be used once. Its what hold the torque to the shaft. Fix it right the first time 🙂

You can measure the actual temp of the coolant with an infrared pyrometer. Check to see if the thermostat is operating properly and see if the temps match your scanner,or/and temperature -resistance chart.
