Also if the crankshaft pulley is not tight or flush with the block it will cause the belt follow its pattern..

I had the same problem when doing the timing belt on my 01 accord…i didnt have the tensioner bolt tight enough..it would walk both ways when turning it over manually but set itself when engine was running.

Well after a different approach i busted out some feeler gauges and ran them between gear and block..the gear is not flushed..also the woodruff key on the crank has a gap on one side but not the other..both are out of alignment..should i put a scoket around gear and try to align it?

4 more hours with no luck..the timing belt gear has zero movement..if i can get the gear off, i can pop the key right out..cant use a puller because the gear is too close to the block..should i try some heat? The end will wiggle but the part in the gear is jammed…

Its a shadow..there is no gaps anywhere evil-i..whoever did the tb before really messed up other parts too so i imagine the wrong key is in it..the gear wont budge off either…

Its like it has a camshaft from a f22a1 engine..or the cam sproket is upside down if possible…i checked the tension on the rockers and #1 is tensioned but #4 is slack..#4 is on compression stroke but cam sprocket UP is pointing up..backwarks
..distributor is flush with head. Rotor is on correctly .rotor points to #4 on its compression stroke…you guys might think im crazy but PLEASE ANSWER THIS..IF THE POINTER ON CRANK LINES UP THE NOTCH ON PULLY AND THE UP ON CAMSHAFT IS POINTING UP WITH NOTCHES PARALLEL WITH HEAD…IS THAT NOT TDC ON THE COMPRESSION STROKE????thanks everypne

Thanks all.im stumped..eyes are tired of trying to solve this…ive changed numerous tb and this one has me stummed…crank aligned with pointer and cam in The up position..thats tdc on compression stroke..if i was to turn crank 360 and cam turn 180 the rotor would be pointing toward f22b2 #1. Torward front fender not toward the rear bumper…im lost and ? its like i have tge firing order of a vtec..
