Would those tiny cracks in the casting get bigger overtime?
August 14, 2020 at 2:17 pm in reply to: I did something stupid to my automatic trans a while back… #963004Two years ago, I went to a mechanic did a spill and fill. He just drained it and put about the same about back in. a little over 4 liters. Unless the car is under warranty or cvt, I usually just use full synthetic multi vehicle fluid. The car was a former rental when it was new by enterprise, hard to also tell how its been driven, but it hasnt been too much maintenance for me. Just the regular oil changes, brakes, tuneup.

At 1000km the oil is dirtier than my brothers 2015 yaris at around 8k. I guess thats why here the dealer recommends the 6k oil change interval instead of 12k.
Might not be a bad idea to run Marvel oil before the next oil change or atf to help clean it out.
Seafoam spray I wouldnt use again, at least on this car. Last time I followed the directions, it flooded my engine and car wouldnt start. I had to pull the plugs twice, and remove the throttlebody to make sure the engine wasnt locked up, but I got it to work after sitting a while.
Yea and the stupid thing is where the person took them here in canada, canadian tire, they charged over $400 for economy pads & rotors. I could have bought a good set of aftermarket ceramic pads and drilled and slotted performance rotors for only about $80
Is it possible its just the pads? I did a booster check, doesnt seem to be leaking. No leaks in the brake system, and after bleeding didnt really improve. No abs light on. Original fluid was actually still clean and good, but I wanted to rule that out.
Do you think swapping out the plugs with a new set will help?
Is the gps on with the car off? I know at the 12v outlet most american cars still have power with the car off
I dont think there should be much if any play where the shaft seats.
If they arent badly damaged, chewed up, or threads stretched you can likely reuse them. Most shops would do that, and not worry about it anyways.
PS are the bushings actually bad or worn out? Many times if its just making noise you can spray penetrating fluid on it, and the noise will go away
I have a 2013 kia, and not really vibration but noise coming from the cv axle. Dealership says its fine, but im reluctant to believe them because the warranty is almost coming to an end. Its normal to have a little play in the cv joints, but when you have vibration, and you have ruled out other issues such as tires or rims, it could very well be likely cv axle is going bad.
If it needs brakes that often Its likely the front calipers need to be replaced. Not a hard job to do as reman units are very reasonably priced. I’m surprised when you got them changed so often the didnt decide to check the sliders, or calipers
